Il Governo Starmer e la juridification of politics

ABSTRACT

Il contributo si propone di analizzare le prime azioni del Governo Starmer, al fine di comprendere la nuova stagione politica apertasi con la vittoria del Labour nelle elezioni del 2024. In che misura il nuovo Esecutivo raccoglierà l’eredità del New Labour di Blair? E in che misura si discosterà dai Governi conservatori? Quale sarà l’equilibrio ricercato dal Primo Ministro tra elementi della Political e della Legal Constitution? La conclusione, pur parziale, che si può trarre dai primi mesi di governo, è che Starmer si discosti dall’esperienza dei Tories e del New Labour, e segua una originale forma di jurodofication of politics.

The paper aims to analyze the first actions of the Starmer Government in order to understand the new political season that opened with Labour’s victory in the 2024 elections. To what extent will the new Executive pick up the legacy of Blair’s New Labour? And to what extent will it depart from Conservative governments? What will be the balance sought by the Prime Minister between elements of the Political and Legal Constitution? The first, albeit partial, conclusion that can be drawn from the first months of government is that Starmer will depart from the experience of the Tories and Labour, and follow an unique form of jurodofication of politics.
